ARMED HANDS Sunday, April 7 – 1:00pm

English Canada Premiere

Lucas, the 46 year-old head of an anti-arm trafficking squad based in Marseille, catches wind of a huge weapon smuggling operation by a Serbian group. Clues lead him to Paris where 25-year-old Maya works as a narcotics cop. As Lucas’ investigation intertwines with Maya’s inquiries, they start bonding beyond the trials and tribulations of their jobs…
“A taut, jaunty, trim thriller, Armed Hands is the most accomplished work to date by Pierre Jolivet. Razor sharp dialogues (…) stress the uncompromising plot of this tightly controlled suspense”  [Olivier Delcroix].
The thriller casts an authentic light on police operations thanks to a polished script co-written with an ex-cop Simon Michaël. Marc Lavoine and Leïla Bekhti give a compelling performance with the powerful Roschdy Zem.
“Armed is the sort of cerebral, detail-rich crime drama genre fans will relish digging into. Recommended for connoisseurs of French cinema and those who appreciate intricate, multi-character procedurals…” (Joe Bendel)
