Vincent is going to be a father for the first time. His sister Elisabeth and brother-in-law Pierre invite him to dinner at their home where he meets his childhood friend Claude. While waiting for his girlfriend, Vincent jokingly reveals the name he chose for his baby…which sets in motion an exhilarating, witty and boisterous verbal match.
The film is directed with sharp precision by Alexandre De La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte, the playwrights of the enormously successful popular play. The cast with 250 stage performances under its belt is keeping the delivery of zingers refreshingly spontaneous in the film. The lines “are not only hilarious and snappily delivered, but also constitute a remarkably intelligentexploration of the value and importance (or lack thereof) of a particular name” (Variety). Patrick Bruel and Charles Berling have a special knack for irony.
Each line is a treat. The enjoyment is pervasive with continuous laughs.
What’s in a Name? a must-see delectable Vaudeville!
